YOUNGSTOWN, OH (August 26, 2022): Opera Western Reserve has received a generous $8,338 donation from the annual Ohio Arts Council Fund in support of the Opera Western Reserve annual production needs and performance season. OWR would like to thank Governor Mike DeWine and members of the Ohio General Assembly for acknowledging the importance of public funding for the arts through the state budget, and its foresight in supporting the future of arts and social service non-profit organizations in the Mahoning Valley. Opera Western Reserve acknowledges the many donations it receives in support of its yearly season.
For its 2022 season, Opera Western Reserve presents Giacomo Puccini‘s opera La Bohème. The opera tells the story of friends and lovers who are artists, writers, and musicians struggling to live and create their art in 1800s Paris. La Boheme contains some of opera’s best loved music and has remained popular with audiences since it was written. “La Bohème” will be presented live on November 11, 2022 in the historic Stambaugh Auditorium Concert Hall.
OWR is a growing opera company proudly presenting operas of the highest quality using many regional artists as leading singers, orchestra members and directors. OWR is dedicated to educating the community on the many learning experiences created through opera, the preservation of opera as an interdisciplinary art form and the collaboration of art forms that opera demands.
