OPERA WESTERN RESERVE AWARDED GRANT FROM THE ARNETT FAMILY FUND AND THE KENNEDY FAMILY FUND THROUGH THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF THE MAHONING VALLEY

YOUNGSTOWN, OH (August 14, 2023): Opera Western Reserve (OWR) generously received a total of $5,000 from the Arnett Family Fund and The Kennedy Family Fund through the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley ($2,500 granted from each fund) in support of the November 17, 2023 fall opera, Carmen.
The mission of Opera Western Reserve is to produce and present opera performances of the highest quality to audiences in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania. To provide a performance platform for professional artists from northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania. To take a leadership role in artist training, arts education and audience development, including children and young adults. To foster partnerships with the Youngstown Opera Guild and other arts organizations in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
For its 2023 season, Opera Western Reserve presents George Bizet’s opera Carmen. The opera tells the story of a hopeless soldier, Don José, who is seduced by Carmen, a fiery performer at a nightclub. Abandoning his childhood sweetheart and turning his back on his military career, the opera follows José in his pursuit of Carmen’s attention. Carmen will be presented live on November 17, 2023 at the DeYor Performing Arts Center.
