OPERA WESTERN RESERVE RECIEVES GRANT FROM THE DOMINION ENERGY CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

YOUNGSTOWN, OH (October 12, 2023): Opera Western Reserve has received $1,500 from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation in support of the annual Emerging Artists Program.
OWR’s goal through the Emerging Artists Program is to impact budding, local artists while also providing arts education opportunities to youth in the Mahoning Valley. OWR’s Emerging Artists will work alongside seasoned artists and experience performances in professional venues such as Stambaugh Auditorium and the DeYor Performing Arts Center.
Emerging Artists will not only gain high quality mentorship, but they will also have the opportunity to share the art of opera with local school children. Last year, over 2,000 children experienced opera through this program. This year’s programming includes a mini mainstage production of Bizet’s Carmen, an opera tour, and a final public concert. Each of these events will include educational elements that will spark curiosity and develop an understanding of opera as a unique art form.
Opera Western Reserve is also pleased to present George Bizet’s Carmen as their 20th production on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the DeYor Performing Arts Center. Tickets are on sale now, and more information on the production is available at operawesternreserve.org.
